Multidisciplinary artist working across textile, clothing, performance, installation, conceptual photography and moving image. Emerging from a background in fashion design, her practice centres on the inner life and the structures through which it becomes perceptible: how memory, belief, spirituality, emotion, humour, imagination, contradiction and lived experience acquire material, bodily and visual form, and how these interior conditions continually shape the ways we perceive and encounter the world.
Textile and fabric recur most consistently in her visual practice of drawing, writing, image-making, material experimentation and performance frequently develop alongside one another as interconnected parts of the same process through which a work finds its form.
Her practice also extends through collaborative and collective ways of working, including with Tapir Studio, Art×Fashion Malaysia (AX-F), and Projek Rabak, where she has engaged in interdisciplinary and community-based forms of making.
Dhani is also currently developing the Fabric library and Textile Knowledge Centre at the Museum Education Centre under the newly established Merdeka Textile Museum in Kuala Lumpur,
